Brighter: ELECTRICITY IN SINGAPORE: FROM BEGINNING TO BEYOND
Electricity powers our economic development, drives many of our machines and appliances, and thus enriches our daily lives. It is critical to us, yet in Singapore we take it for granted. This is because over the past 10 years, the Energy Market Authority (EMA) has delivered one of the world’s most reliable electricity supplies to Singaporeans. As industry regulator, the EMA has ensured a competitive and effi cient electricity industry which has benefi ted Singapore consumers. The EMA has also enhanced our energy security. It is developing our fi rst liquefi ed natural gas (LNG) terminal, expected to be ready by the fi rst half of 2013. The LNG terminal will enable Singapore to diversify our gas sources by importing natural gas from all over the world.
