Simon Courtenay is a Professor in the Environment Faculty at the University of Waterloo and an Adjunct Professor co-supervising graduate students at the University of Prince Edward Island, University of New Brunswick and the Institut national de la recherche scientifique in Québec City. Over the past decade Simon has served as Scientific Director of the Networks of Excellence of Canada - Canadian Water Network and Director of his home unit, the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability. Simon is fascinated by uses that animals and plants make of aquatic environments, especially coastal and estuarine environments, and how to monitor and manage the impacts of human activities on that ecology.
