Roxana Popescu is based in Paris as a visiting researcher in the Gustave Eiffel University (France) and is also a doctoral candidate in a joint degree program of Mons University (Belgium) and University of French Polynesia (Tahiti). She has a background in geography, environmental management, and disaster risk reduction, and has served as a consultant to various government and multilateral agencies. Applying GIS and stakeholder analysis in the Caribbean island of Saint Martin, her current research focusses on post-disaster waste flows after hurricane Irma in the context of an island’s overall metabolism and sustainability after a disaster.
