Special Issue on the "Metabolism of Islands" Concluded
The open access special issue "Metabolism of Islands" is now concluded and available online. The nine contributions in this issue covers a wide-range of application of socio-metabolic research, from flow accounts, to stock analysis, and their relationship to services in space and time. In analysing the metabolism of islands, the 35 authors suggest that islands have the potential to pave the way for sustainability education, research, and practice. Islands as potential “hubs of innovation” are uniquely positioned to be leaders in sustainability and climate action.
